Bacterial infections can occur in the urinary system including kidney, urethra, bladder ureters is called Urinary tract infection. (UTI). Women are the most vulnerable to the UTI infection due to their anatomy however men can develop UTI as well. The symptoms for UTI includes

  • Incontinence
  • Burning sensation while attempting to empty the bladder
  • Frequent urge to urinate
  • Cloudy or red urine
  • Discolored or blood in the urine or smelly urine.

Not all the above symptoms are UTIs, even if they may feel like one however if you suspect that you have a UTI, please contact a doctor immediately. There are prescribed home remedies however in most cases the home remedies cannot eliminate the infection fully.

Similar to any other kind of infection, complications can arise if the UTI is left untreated for a longer amount of time leading to even damage to the kidneys. This is caused by the bacteria entering through the urethra into the urinary tract. Sexual intercourse is also a primary factor however not all the people who develop UTI are sexually active.

Urethritis is also a type of UTI which is the infection of the urethra that occurs when a bacteria from the gastrointestinal spreads to the urethra. Urethritis is also caused by some of the sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, herpes, and gonorrhea. Low immune system usage of the catheter, post-menopausal, urinary tract abnormalities blockages and a certain type of birth control pills can also cause urethritis.
