Poison Ivy:
Pointed, shiny leaves that are a bit droopy with the middle leaf being the largest and side leaves growing from the stem is a flowering plant that grows in the Asian and north American regions. The leaves have different colors in different seasons.
Cause:
When the poison ivy is touched or comes in contact with the skin, a clear liquid in the plant’s sap called urushiol causes the rash.
The rashes can last from 5 days to over 10 days and in severe cases can last much
Longer.
Prevention:
- Cold Compress
- Do not scratch
- Antihistamines
- Skin Ointments
When to see a doctor:
- When the rashes extend over large areas on the body
- When the rashes and itching become severe accompanied by swelling
- If you notice pus in the blisters
