Watertown Rapid COVID-19 Testing at AFC Urgent Care

AFC Urgent Care Watertown is now offering on-site rapid testing (results while waiting in car), and PCR swab tests for COVID-19. We highly advise that you consult with our staff to determine the most appropriate test for your symptoms and situation. Our facility is located at 376 Arsenal Street in Watertown, MA and patients must get an appointment in advance for Rapid COVID Testing.

Right now, it is $139 for the rapid antigen test and flu tests, which is now a combination test, with results within 2 hours.

What Is Rapid Coronavirus Testing? How Does It Work?

A Rapid COVID-19 test is a molecular test that can quickly detect the presence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Rapid COVID testing uses a swab like a standard diagnostic test, which is then inserted into a Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) scan to detect the presence of COVID-19.

Rapid tests with an FIA can bring back patient results on the same day of testing and with high levels of accuracy. It is also important to know that a rapid test is far different than an antibody test: an antibody test determines if a patient with a previous COVID-19 infection developed antibodies that fight off the virus. The rapid test determines if a patient currently has COVID-19.

Does My Insurance Cover Testing?

COVID-19 testing is fully covered, with $0 cost to you, by all insurance plans in Massachusetts including Medicare and Medicaid if deemed medically necessary. Right now, it is $139 for the rapid antigen test and flu tests, which is now a combination test, with results within 2 hours.

If you believe that you were exposed to COVID-19, came into close contact with a COVID-19 patient, or are exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms then testing in these situations will very likely be covered.

What if I want to get tested anyway for peace of mind, convenience or a COVID-19 travel certificate?

If you don’t fit the medically necessary testing criteria or do not have insurance we offer very affordable rates for testing. The current pricing is $139 for the rapid antigen test and flu tests, which is now a combination test, with results within 2 hours. We remind you to always call 9-1-1 in case of emergencies.

If you need a COVID-19 travel certificate for travel out of the country (or to certain other states with coronavirus related travel restrictions), we can also provide this certificate to you. Please ensure to inquire about results and turn around times before finalizing your travel plans. It is your responsibility to check your destination’s requirements before you get tested. We are unable to offer refunds if you order the test too soon, or order the wrong test. Our staff are unable to offer clear guidance on this as there are dozens of destinations, each of which have different requirements.

How to Book a COVID-19 Test

If you would like to reserve your spot in the queue for a test, you can reserve a spot online. Depending on the test recommended for you, the results should be available within 4 hours (for rapid testing) or in a few days for PCR testing. How do I get my COVID Test results?

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
