American Family Care Opening New Urgent Care in Torrington

Health Care Provider Continuing to Grow, Create Jobs Across Connecticut

TORRINGTON, Conn. – American Family Care (AFC) is pleased to announce it will soon open a new urgent care facility that will provide high-quality health care to the residents of Torrington and Litchfield County as well as create more than a dozen new local jobs. AFC is the nation’s leading provider of walk in urgent care, primary care and occupational medicine. The new Torrington facility will open on 1171 East Main St. in March of 2019.

We’re excited to continue fulfilling our mission of making quality health care accessible and economical with the opening of our location in Torrington,” said Tom Kelly, independent owner and operator of 6 other Connecticut AFC locations. “We provide a patient-centric approach, putting the patient first by providing high-level customer service with high-level care, a rare hospitality mindset in a medical facility,” says Kelly.

Over the past 36 years, AFC has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room urgent care and expanded its footprint across 26 states with 200 locations nationwide. All AFC clinics are designed, equipped and staffed to provide accessible primary care, urgent care and minor emergency treatment. Each clinic features a high-tech approach, including digital x-rays, on-site lab testingstate-of-the-art diagnostics and electronic medical records. The clinics are staffed by kind, caring and compassionate health care professionals.

“AFC is a proven asset to any medical community. Not only do our facilities help reduce the burden of overworked emergency rooms, but they also cut back the wait time for patients with non-life-threatening emergencies,” Kelly says. “Our objective has always been to offer, fast, efficient and affordable care and to have patients treated and out the door in as little as 30 – 45 minutes.”

AFC clinics also feature a full suite of occupational medicine and workers’ compensation services. These services include OSHA-mandated medical surveillance exams, D.O.T. and non-D.O.T. drug screens and physicals, and breath alcohol tests, among many other services.

Like all other AFC facilities in Connecticut, the new Torrington location will be open seven days a week, Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., no appointment is needed. Most major insurance plans will be accepted, with self-pay rates available as well.
