Are you preparing to return to work or open your business on June 17th? It is right around the corner and it can be overwhelming if you are not informed on the steps to take or guidelines to follow when reopening. You might have questions like: how do I keep my workplace COVID-19 free? and where to get tested in case of exposure? AFC Urgent Care West Hartford is here to help employees and employers return to work safely in Connecticut after COVID-19.
Phase 2 reopen plan
So what should business owners and employees know about reopening for Phase 2? Reopening your business will require many safety precautions and guidelines to follow in order to keep workers safe. Companies may screen employees, by asking screening questions or taking their temperature. Employees who have symptoms (fever, cough, or shortness of breath) must notify their supervisor, remain home, and follow CDC-recommended steps.
If workers have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, they should also remain at home and practice social distancing for 14 days.
Precautions to take when returning to work
In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, here are steps to keep everyone safe in the workplace:
- Employees and employers should wear a mask at all times.
- Hand sanitizer and antiseptic wipes should be available for workers.
- Disinfect and clean communal areas and surfaces daily.
- Employers should ensure that workers can maintain a six-foot distance.
- Plastic dividers are another alternative to protect workers.
- Deliver services remotely (e.g. phone, video, or web) where practical.
- Deliver products through curbside pick-up or delivery.
What if an employee is confirmed to have COVID-19?
If a worker has been infected with the virus, employers should inform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace but maintain confidentiality as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Ventilate areas visited by that individual. Clean and disinfect all impacted spaces, especially commonly used rooms and shared equipment.
