Tick Bite Treatment at AFC Urgent Care West Orange

Tick Bite Treatment in West Orange, NJ

The months between April and September are the most active months for ticks. It is also a time when our Urgent Care Center sees many cases of tick removal and testing for tick-borne illnesses.

At AFC Urgent Care West Orange, we see patients for tick removal and detection of tick-borne illnesses on a walk-in basis.

Between 3-30 days following the tick bite, some experience symptoms such as:

  • Bull’s Eye Pattern Rash
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Swelling
  • Stiffness
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

You can reduce your risks of catching a tick-borne illness or experience symptoms by:

  • Wearing protective clothing for outdoor activities
  • Walking in the center of trails
  • Conducting a full-body check upon returning indoors
  • Showering after outdoor activities

Our Walk-In Clinic can test your tick-borne symptoms for Lyme disease as well as remove ticks that have latched onto the skin. You can visit us any day during the week, including our convenient evening and weekend hours of M-F 8-8 and Sat-Sun 8-5. We accept most major Health Insurances as well as provide cost-effective care for those without coverage.

For more information about tick removals or treatment for tick-borne illnesses, please call to speak with one of our medical professionals at (973) 669-5900.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
