COVID-19, an upper respiratory infection with over 38,000 confirmed cases in the state of Connecticut. The virus has quickly spread worldwide since its initial detection in late 2019. AFC Urgent Care New Britain is able to provide testing for the active virus as well as antibody testing for individuals and businesses that are residential or beginning to reopen.
Testing for the active COVID-19 virus is performed using a swab of the lower nasal cavity. The test is performed quickly and is painless for the patient. Results are typically available within three to five business days, though delays may be experienced due to lab capacity and any unforeseen circumstances.

AFC Urgent Care New Britain is currently working with local businesses to set up mobile testing for local businesses including offices, warehouses, nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the area. Our staff will set up a tent on the grounds of your building with the equipment needed for testing, including full PPE gear for those performing the tests. We will take full precautions during mobile testing, including encouraging social distancing for all being tested. Results will be available to patients in 3 business days, depending on lab capacity or any unforeseen circumstances.
Symptoms for COVID-19 include a dry cough, body aches, congestion, shortness of breath, fever and loss of smell or taste. If you are exhibiting any of these symptoms, visit AFC Urgent Care New Britain today! You will be able to go over your symptoms with a provider and get tested on the same day. For questions or to set up mobile testing, please call (860) 357-6899.
We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.
We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.
That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
