AFC Urgent Care South Portland has a full digital X-Ray department in our walk-in urgent care center, allowing us to quickly and accurately diagnose your injury and provide the correct treatment to prevent chronic pain issues and other complications.

What can be diagnosed with an X-Ray?

A digital X-Ray can be taken to diagnose:

  • Sports injuries like fractures and sprains
  • Worked-related injuries
  • Foreign bodies like glass and metal in your tissue
  • Minor trauma

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Is it dangerous to get an X-ray?

X-rays do use small amounts of radiation, but they’re generally safe for adults and children. That being said, there are some cases where they can be damaging – to developing babies, for instance. Your AFC provider will take your circumstances into account and answer your unique questions about safety.

  • How do I know if I’ll need an X-ray?

Your local AFC team can help you answer that question when you contact them. If you’ve experienced a fall or other injury and are in pain, an X-ray could help determine the best course of treatment. They’re also used in a variety of other circumstances.

  • How long does it take to get an X-ray?

At AFC, we always strive to get you in and out as quickly as possible, and the X-ray itself should only take around 15 minutes
